A Study on the Health Management Behaviors of the Aged in Seoul


Abstract
Random sampling was used in this study from 7 koos, Seoul (Seodaemoonkoo, Mapokoo, Kangdongkoo, Seongdongkoo, Koorokoo, Yongsankoo and Seongbookkoo). The study objective was to evaluate the health management behaviors of the aged 60 and more.
This
survey used closed questionnaire. The surveyed were 580 old persons.
@ES The results of this study were as follows:
@EN 1) Walking and jogging (47.4%) and 'dietary' (43.5%) were the most popular weight management activities of the aged. Thus, health education for the aged should take convenience and accessibility into account.
2) 8.4% of the aged has experienced accidents during the last 6 months. Therefore, they need the improvement of accident-prone environment and the complementary policy measures as well as the education and public relations of accident-preventive
behaviors.
3) 'Measuring blood pressure' (38.6%), 'urinary test' (11.2%) and 'eye test' (4.1%) were popular activities of early detection of diseases.
